I just finished my last 'single' assignment for the year, I still have a couple of group / class ones to complete, but pretty much ive passed my course after completing this one. All I need to really do is show up to placement & class.
I'm doing a cert III in childrens services, and going on with the diploma next year. Pretty much its always been a dream of mine to work with disabled or mentally challenged children, this is one more step in that direction for me. I know that when I reach that goal, every day will be a challenge, but I know I will never regret that decision.
I have worked with a couple of special needs children in the centre im doing placement at, and really love being able to help them learn & grow, often these children are alot more rewarding to work with than the 'normal' children as such, I just have a soft spot for them, and I know having a permanent disability myself, it shouldn't be seen as something that will hold you back, you can do anything you set your mind to.
I've had such a good time in the last few months studying and making some awesome new friends, as well as working alongside staff at a childcare centre, and not just learning from these staff, but also passing some of my own knowledge onto them, and being accepted as one of the crew. I have become very attached to some of the children, although I don't really have favourites, some of them make it hard to not label them lol. They're all adorable in their own way, and the challenging kids are often the ones I really warm to for some reason, they wear me out and try to piss me off, but you can't help but love them
