Hi folks!
Thought you might be interested in seeing one of the fakies we get here in S. A. - the brand is called "Goodie Gumdrops" by Edcon (manufactured in China) and it's stocked in CNA (a general gift shop) right next to the real deal. This one cost 80 rand, which is about $10 US.
She comes packaged with a little mirror, a brush, a couple of solid plastic knickknacks, and a cardboard cutout of g4 Applejack.
At first the graphics look like the basic g4 ones, although the toy is g3.5 style. But look closer -
Pinkie, what is going on with those legs?
Twilight?
As you can see from the circle and the edge of the box, the picture isn't tilted. She's got a massive head and a tiny body with super-short legs. Rarity seems mostly OK, though.
The pony has a soft vinyl head and a hard plastic body. The hoof heart on her front leg is actually a button, and when you push it, her head lights up red and she sings . . . something. It's hard to make out, but it sounds a bit like someone singing "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" in Chinese. Very odd! I'll try and get a video of it. When we realized she sang, I knew she was coming home with me.
I also actually like her eyes, there's a lot of neat detail in them. The iris has rings of red, green, yellow and pink and there's a blue heart reflection dealie. It reminds me of Kaa's hypnosis eyes from Disney's Jungle Book.
There are also some g3.5s like this in smaller packages, and a two-pack with a g3.5 and a g3 white unicorn, which doesn't sing. There's only one unicorn, but the g3.5s also come in a pink pony with pink and purple mane and a not-Rainbow Dash who's blue with multicolored mane.
